Learning Indonesian Vocabulary for Beginners, Intermediate, Advanced



Hello Katabah!
Actually we can try to pass vocabulary tests through menu Tes Vocab. But if we want to study Indonesian vocabularies first, let’s learn together here.

I provide an exercise title so that we can use it as a keyword for searching on the Search Box of this blog. Besides it, I also give some sentence examples in bahasa Indonesia and English.

Exercise Title 1: B2_Peter_Hlm_1-1
1. talking: berbicara
Kita sedang berbicara.
(We are talking)


2. about: tentang
Buku itu tentang bahasa Inggris.
(The book is about English)

3. and: dan
Dia dan Tono membaca buku.
(He and Tono read a book)

4. people: orang-orang
Saya melihat orang-orang itu.
(I see those people)

5. what: apa
Apa ini?
(What is this?)

6. who: siapa
Siapa dia?
(Who is she?)

7. where: di mana
Di mana dia?
(Where is she?

8. when: kapan
Kapan kamu akan pergi?
(When will you go?)

9. how: bagaimana
Bagaimana kamu menyelesaikan tugas ini?
(How do you finish this task?)

10. you: kamu
Kamu adalah Tono.
(You are Tono)

11. like: suka
Saya suka itu.
(I like that)

12. I: saya
Saya bermain bulu tangkis.
(I play badminton)

13. cup: cangkir
Dia mengambil cangkir.
(He takes a cup)

14. coffee: kopi
Mereka suka kopi.
(They like coffee)

15. eat: makan
Kami makan nasi.
(We eat rice)

16. Please!: Tolong!
Tolong ambilkan buku itu!
(Take the book, please!)

We also can say: Ambilkan buku itu, tolong!
But Tolong is more usual used in beginning of a sentence.

17. give: memberi
Kamu memberiku uang.
(You give me money)

18. me: “aku” or “-ku”
Mereka memberi aku pulpen.
Or
Mereka memberiku pulpen.
(They give me a pen)

19. a piece of cake: sepotong kue
Saya mengambil sepotong kue.
(I take a piece of cake)

20. which: yang mana
Yang mana pensilmu?
(Which is your pencil?)

Exercise Title 2: B2_Peter_Hlm_1-2
1. want: mau
Saya mau makan.
(I want to eat)

2. this: ini
Ini adalah tas.
(This is a bag)

3. that: itu
Itu adalah tas.
(That is a bag)

4. or: atau
Kamu bisa membawa buku atau tas.
(You can bring a book or bag)

5. talk to: berbicara kepada
Mereka berbicara kepada saya.
(They talk to me)

6. sorry: maaf
Saya mohon maaf.
(I am sorry)

7. but: tapi
Saya punya buku, tapi saya tidak punya pulpen.
(I have a book, but I don’t have a pen)

8. them: mereka
Dia melihat mereka.
(He sees them)

9. busy: sibuk
Dia sibuk.
(She is busy)

10. at the moment: saat ini
Mereka bahagia saat ini.
(They are happy at the moment)

11. doesn't: tidak
Dia tidak memukul Budi
(He doesn’t strike Budi)

12. matter: masalah
Tidak apa-apa
(It doesn't matter)

13. us: milik kami
Ini bola kami.
(This is our ball)

14. if: jika
Jika kamu tidak keberatan.
(If you don't mind)

15. know: tahu
Apakah kamu tahu?
(Do you know?)

16. tea: teh
Saya lebih suka teh.
(I'd rather have some tea)

17. those: itu
Itu adalah buah apel.
(Those are apples)

18. three: tiga
Ada tiga siswa.
(There are three students)

19. tree: pohon
Itu adalah pohon.
(That is a tree)

20. we: kami
Kami menunggu kamu.
(We wait you)



Exercise Title 3: B2_Peter_Hlm_1-3
1. familiar: dikenal
Wajahnya tampak familiar
(Her face looks familiar)

Note:
Word “familiar” is often used in an Indonesian expression too, not only in English.

2. all: semua
Semua buku itu adalah milikku.
(All of the books are mine)

3. friends: teman-teman
Ini adalah teman-temanku.
(These are my friends)

4. mine: milikku
This car is mine.
(Mobil ini adalah milikku)

5. our: milik kami
Ini adalah mobil kami.
(This is our car)

6. those men: laki-laki itu
Para laki-laki itu adalah temanku.
(Those men are my friends)

7. he: dia laki-laki
Dia adalah seorang petani.
(He is a farmer)

8. she: dia perempuan
Dia adalah bibiku.
(She is my aunt)

9. tall: tinggi
Ayahku tinggi.
(My father is tall)

10. short: pendek
Adik perempuanku pendek.
(My little sister is short)

11. man: laki-laki
Dia adalah seorang laki-laki.
(He is a man)

12. left: kiri
Saudara perempuanku di kiri.
(My sister is on the left)

13. right: kanan
Mereka di kanan.
(They are on the left)

14. on the left: di kiri
Dia di kiri.
(He is on the left)

15. would like: ingin
Saya ingin makan.
(I would like to eat)

16. over  there: di sana
They are over there.
(Mereka di sana)

17. several: beberapa
Ada beberapa siswa di sini.
(There are several students here)

18. any of those people: semua orang itu
Semua orang itu adalah tetanggaku.
(Any of those people are my neighbour)

19. really: benar-benar
Itu benar-benar bagus.
(It’s really good)

20. tea and water: teh dan air
Saya suka teh dan air.
(I like tea and water)
